Pacific North West Space Design Competition

About This Event

Prepare for an incredible journey into the world of aerospace at the Space Design Competition (SDC) this January 2025, hosted at Raisbeck Aviation High School in the Pacific Northwest! This unique event gives high school students from across the Pacific Northwest the opportunity to experience the roles and challenges of an aerospace company.Students will work together in teams, guided by industry professionals, to create innovative solutions for space settlement and infrastructure that could shape the future of space exploration. This isn't just a competition; it's a chance to unleash creativity, tackle real-world engineering problems, and connect with like-minded peers who share a passion for the cosmos.

$165 USD.


This pricing includes:

  • All meals

  • Limted edition event-specific t-shirt

  • Access to the event facility and special tour of the Museum of Flight (next door)

  • All required equipment and materials

Event Schedule

The PNW Space Design Competition will share an accurate schedule in the lead up to the event. Below is an indicative schedule (note this may vary from the final schedule):

  • Friday night - Students will have virtual activities to complete from their own homes. Students will learn more about the competition, what to expect over the weekend, and virtually meet with other participants and mentors.

  • Saturday - after arriving at the event venue, students will attend training classes to learn about engineering disciplines, leadership, and marketing. Then, the Request For Proposal (RFP) will be released and companies begin designing! Presentation files are due Sunday Morning, so use your time wisely.

  • Sunday - Companies give 30-minute presentations to a panel of judges. The judges are current or former aerospace industry professionals, and will ask technical questions about designs. The judges choose a winning company, and the competition concludes on Sunday afternoon.

Event Specific Notes

  • Unlike some of our other events across the country, accommodation is NOT provided. Students will need to make their way to and from Tukwila both days of the event

  • Parents are more than welcome to attend the presentations on the Sunday. Food will be available.

  • All participants will have the opportunity to tour the Museum Of Flight as part of this event!! Entry ticket price is included in participation fees.
