Benefits of Design Competitions
Year after year, students share the excitement they have completing this competition. It is both challenging and rewarding. As our founding member Ty White says - "It is an excellent example of a PBL. There is an open-ended challenge where the students can creatively solve problems. They pursue deeper understanding to overcome challenges. It teaches communication, collaboration, and resilience as they struggle as part of a larger team to create their habitat."
When students show up, they learn about working in a professional setting. They have the experience to work under an actual aerospace engineer, and then to interact with them and ask about career or college advice. They meet students from different backgrounds and start to understand how diversity in a professional setting enriches both the project and themselves.
